Cost Accountant

Element5 is seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in St. Thomas, Ontario. This critical role focuses on managing and analyzing cost information to enhance our business efficiency and profitability. This role reports directly to the V.P. of Finance!

Key Responsibilities:

- Implement and maintain cost accounting systems for manufacturing, analyzing production costs and reconciling accounts.

- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to manage costs and improve financial outcomes.

- Prepare and present reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, explaining variances.

- Develop and recommend cost-effective solutions through detailed cost-benefit analyses.

- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

- Support financial audits and monthly revenue recognition, maintaining Capital in Progress (CIP) accounts.

Qualifications:

- University degree in Accounting or Finance.

- Minimum of two years of experience in cost accounting or a related field within a manufacturing environment.

- CPA designation, or actively working towards obtaining a CPA.

- Strong analytical skills and precision in handling financial data.

- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

- Interest in sustainability and innovation within the construction industry.
